UKIP Scotland Weekly Roundup

April 13, 2016

The last week has been an incredibly busy one for UKIP in Scotland.

On Tuesday, UKIP Scotland Leader, David Coburn MEP, Leader of UKIP Scotland, was on Scotland Tonight, debating tax and spending ahead of the Holyrood elections.

You can catch up with that on BBC iPlayer.

Thursday was the Big Day for UKIP Scotland, when we launched our first ever Manifesto for Holyrood. At a very well attended event in Edinburgh, with UKIP Leader Nigel Farage MEP joining David Coburn MEP, we set out our policies for the upcoming Scottish Parliament election.

We have a set of very clear proposals, on all ten devolved areas, including bringing an end to the Named Person Act.

You can, of course, read the Manifesto in full here where you can also download a copy.

After Edinburgh, the team headed south on Thursday afternoon towards Sanquhar, to visit Sanquhar Tile Services. A fascinating insight into the workings of one of the many SMEs that are the backbone of the Scottish Economy. This visit was hosted by Dumfries Branch Officers Douglas Watters and Bill Wright and provided a great opportunity for a snap of David and Nigel with some of our Candidates for the South of Scotland, Kevin Newton, Caroline Santos and Oluf Marshall.

Heading North once again, we arrived in Glasgow for Grassroots Out, GO, public speaking event where David Coburn acted as Master of Ceremonies, introducing the many excellent cross party speakers and of course, our very own Nigel Farage.

The meeting went incredibly well, with a great turnout from across the political spectrum, and with Nigel Farage encouraging the room to follow the example of Elvis Presley and Return to Sender with David Cameron's leaflet! The record of the Livestream is available here for all to see:

The day was rounded off with Nigel Farage's appearance on Scotland Tonight, with Colin Mackay, with is available on catchup.

The week ended on a high, with David Coburn on Gordon Brewer's settee for Sunday Politics Scotland, discussing UKIP's policies. That one is available here.

And that's us for another week!

Keep to date with the latest UKIP Scotland news on Facebook and Twitter, and keep track of David on his blog at

Yours Aye!
