The Refugee Convention was created after the Second World War to protect those like Ashwaq Ta’lo who fled from persecution and genocide, not the vile war criminals who caused their suffering.
Daesh tried to wipe out the Kurdish Yazidis, because they followed their own religion rather than Islam. The young women and children who fell in to their hands were sold in to slavery, while they murdered the others.
And yet in Britain and throughout Western Europe governments make no effort to bring the war criminals of Daesh to account for the Yazidi genocide or their other wicked crimes.
In dealing with asylum seekers the policy appears to be to treat the victim and the violator equally. Also, every effort is being made to re-integrate our citizens who fought for Daesh rather than secure their prosecution for war crimes.
Is it any wonder that Ms Ta’lo now feels safer in Kurdistan than Europe?
